This is the hardest time of year for me to decide what type of workout I want to do. As spring is an the horizon and more and more days climb above freezing and we first break the 60 degrees mark I want to be outside all the time. These are they days when I see people running and I want to run. I see people riding their bike and I want to. I see dogs in the park, babies in strollers and children on playgrounds. The many months of cabin fever stirring the inside to the point the sun shines and you question its deceiving nature. Is it really as warm as it looks? Finally the answer is yes!!

Now I am a runner no question about that, but I also bike. This is the point in the year I get to dust off my road bike, tune it all up and be ready for the road. I commute to work on my hybrid and do the occasional bike trail on my mountain bike. So what is a girl to do? I want to go for a run,and I want to ride me bike. Initially its easy, I don’t have a ton of miles on my bike and like any sport I have to ease into it and well break my saddle in again so I can do both. But as the weekends approach and I don’t have to work I want to go on 30-50 mile rides, but then there is long runs, and yard work, and walking the dog. There are truely not enough hours to the day nor miles on my bike or on my shoes.

So it is the 2nd week of February and we have had unusual weather. The last 4 days have been over 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Today its beautiful but 40mph winds, the news said if it were snowing we would have white out blizzards. So unlike some fellow runners still toughing out the cold, I have had the advantage to run in shorts, and Capri pants. The most perfect running weather imaginable. Why in February though? Is this a sign of what’s ahead and global warming. Or is this a tease and our next snow fall will be feet instead of inches and will winter last until May. Hey its Nebraska I remember track seasons in which our first few meets have been cancelled from snow still being on the track or to cold to compete. Well I will say these beautiful days have been nice for running, a little wet still with all of the melting but perfect none the less. I don’t know what I will do when its cold again, probably back indoors to the treadmill and pool for cross training.

I have yet to decide what races to do and what exactly I want to focus on doing, triathlons, half marathons or another full marathon. I am leaning towards a half, and triathlon but we will see.

Hello world.

Well decided to start small and make a blog about running and travel and doing both together. One of my favorite things to do is run and I enjoy taking in all of the different aspects of nature while doing it. I also enjoy running in new places although I am a creature of habit and favor a few particular places in my home town. I also enjoy traveling and quite frequently I combine the two and do races in states or countries I have never been to.

I want to try to make this more a photo blog then text because running is more about what you see and feel then what your talking about and you can get so much more out of a picture then words, but I want to combine the two here. So I hope to get this up a running (haha) and start photo blogging about running. I will also trt to add in some technical aspects of running at times, and what I am doing as far a times and races etc. Its a work in progress.
